Osman Tasman was born in Istanbul in 1959. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, and a master’s in industrial engineering, specialized in simulation. He worked as a university staff member, and then, as product planner in Turkish vehicle industry. During his service at the Turkish Armed Forces HQ., he applied simulation techniques to military domain. In 1999, he moved to NATO SHAPE Technical Center (STC) in the Netherlands, where he worked as a simulation scientist in the Land Team, and leader of the C2 Team. In 1999 he served NATO and OSCE in the Balkans, assisting in the implementation of Security Building Measures. In 2000, he became the land armaments officer at the NATO International Staff at NATO HQ, providing advisory support to NATO communities across land and ammunition safety domains, as well as to the NATO command chain. He was the Secretary to the NATO Army Armaments Group (NAAG), and Advisor to NATO land armaments and ammunition safety communities. He retired in August 2024. Mr. Tasman is bearer of NATO Peace Medal for his services in the Balkans and was recently awarded with the Honourable Order of Santa Barbara for his contributions to artillery development and interoperability.
